Turkish President: Presidential Elections to Be Held in 2028 as Scheduled
Ankara, July 09 (QNA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that the country's presidential elections will be held in 2028 as scheduled and without any changes.
In a speech before the Justice and Development Party parliamentary bloc, Erdogan stated that elections have always been respected by both the public and politicians in Turkiye.
In response to the calls for early elections voiced by the opposition Republican People's Party leader Ozgur Ozel, the Turkish President said given that the constitution and the election law have not been changed, the presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in 2028, whilst local elections will be held in 2029.
Erdogan also highlighted that the Turkish people granted him a five-year mandate in the most recent elections, in which he received 52.18 percent of the vote.
Thus, he affirmed that he will complete his presidential term until its end. (QNA)
