One Injured in IED Explosion in Nineveh, Northern Iraq
Baghdad, July 31 (QNA) - One person was injured on Thursday in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Sinjar district, west of Nineveh province in northern Iraq.
Security sources in the district reported that a civilian was wounded when a leftover IED, believed to be from the remnants of ISIS, detonated in an area on Mount Sinjar as he passed by. The injured individual was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Iraq's National Security Service in Basra announced the dismantling of a cross-border drug trafficking network consisting of 11 individuals, in coordination with the Coast Guard. Authorities confirmed the arrest of two foreign suspects after more than 48 hours of maritime surveillance. The suspects were found in possession of 10 kilograms of narcotics while attempting to smuggle them into the country via Iraqi territorial waters.
Iraqi security forces repeatedly affirmed their continued pursuit of ISIS remnants across all regions, particularly in the north and west, stressing that the group nearly lost all of its operational cells within the country. (QNA)
