Doha, July 10 (QNA) - The Qatar Chess Federation’s summer program is ongoing at its training center, having kicked off on July 6 and running through to July 31.

Held under the patronage of Ministry of Sports and Youth, the program hosts 50 boys and girls and takes place daily from 10 A.M. to 12:30 P.M., targeting children aged 6 to 12.

In addition to chess training, the program features a variety of educational workshops including digital safety, recycling, handicrafts, and other engaging activities. These are organized in collaboration with several government entities, such as Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Qatar Scientific Club, Qatar Red Crescent, and Friends of the Environment Center.

Executive Director of Qatar Chess Federation, Hamad Al Tamimi, expressed his delight at the strong turnout, emphasizing that the summer initiative aims to teach the fundamentals of chess and foster strategic thinking skills. He noted that the Federation seeks to expand participation in the sport, identify new talent, and nurture players' abilities through a structured training plan.

Al Tamimi added that the summer agenda also includes cultural, awareness, and recreational workshops designed to build mental and athletic skills, as well as boost participants’ self-confidence.

The Federation developed a four-week schedule for the program throughout July, with the goal of discovering and cultivating young chess talent. (QNA)
