QSFA Unveils Details of 8th Qatar East to West Ultramarathon
Doha, May 28 (QNA) - The Qatar Sports For All Federation (QSFA) has unveiled the full details of the 8th Qatar East to West Ultramarathon, a high-endurance international race that stretches across a grueling 90-kilometer course from the Doha Corniche to Dukhan Beach.
Scheduled to take place on Dec. 5, 2025, the event is being staged in collaboration with Qatar Ultra Runners and is open to both men and women aged 18 and above.
The event underscores Qatar’s unflagging commitment to fostering a culture of mass participation in sport and promoting physical fitness across all members of the community.
It is a global endurance event in which contenders challenge the desert expanse from east to west. The 7th tournament drew 1,500 participants, further solidifying the race’s growing pre-eminence on the global ultrarunning calendar.
Executive Director of QSFA and head of the organizing committee Abdullah Al Dosari emphasized that this event is going to be the most exceptional one, as it is organized and sponsored by the association.
The calendar incorporates over 750 events and championships and forms part of the QSFA-organized major race and marathon agenda. Participation is open to male and female amateurs, if they are medically fit, Al Dosari highlighted.
Al Dosari anticipated an increase in the number of participants in this event compared to the previous one, noting that this one extends to a 90 km distance.
It will kick off from Sheraton Hotel Park on the Doha Corniche and proceed westward across the desert expanse, passing through Al Shahaniya, Al Nasraniya, Al Owaina, and Al Khubayb, before reaching the finish line at Dukhan Beach.
The course includes five designated hydration stops along the route, with ambulance and police units stationed throughout to facilitate participant safety and provide necessary assistance to all contenders.
The race duration may range between 12 to 16 hours, with the first individual contender typically completing the full course in approximately six hours, compared to just over five hours for relay teams, he said.
The 7th tournament drew approximately 1,500 male and female contenders representing 73 nationalities, including 733 men and 267 women from across the globe. (QNA)
