Qatar Chamber Explores Avenues to Bolster Commercial Collaboration with Poland
Doha, May 20 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber (QC) held discussions in Doha on Tuesday with a visiting Polish delegation to explore avenues for expanding commercial cooperation, assessing the investment climate and available opportunities, as well as the prospects for strengthening ties with the Polish Development Fund (PFR).
During his meeting with President of the PFR's Management Board, Piotr Matczuk, Second Vice-Chairman of QC, Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, commended the collaborative ties between the two countries across various fields, particularly in trade and economic affairs.
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the State of Qatar, Tomasz Sadzinski, alongside a range of Qatari businessmen, attended the meeting.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries amounted to approximately QR 4.2 billion in 2024, of which QR 3.4 billion represented Qatari exports, primarily petroleum gases and gaseous hydrocarbons, while imports from Poland totaled around QR 780 million, Al Athba highlighted.
Al Athba underscored the importance of activating the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding and the agreement establishing the Qatar-Poland Business Council, signed in 2011 between the Qatar Chamber and the Polish Chamber of Commerce, including the revitalization of the Council’s activities to enable it to effectively pursue and translate the shared visions and proposals aimed at bolstering cooperation between private sector actors in both countries into concrete, mutually beneficial investment and commercial ventures.
He further emphasized the importance of operationalizing the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding and the agreement establishing the Qatar-Poland Business Council, signed in 2011 between the Qatar Chamber and the Polish Chamber of Commerce.
This includes the revitalization of the Council’s activities to enable it to effectively pursue and translate the shared visions and proposals aimed at bolstering cooperation between private sector actors in both countries into concrete, mutually beneficial investment and commercial ventures, he highlighted.
Al Athba further enjoined the need to bolster the exchange of information and data related to the legal and regulatory frameworks that govern commercial and investment activity in both countries, including any legislative developments thereto.
He also stressed the importance of facilitating reciprocal visits by business actors to closely examine the available commercial and investment opportunities on the ground, in addition to jointly organizing exhibitions that showcase the products of both nations and furnish comprehensive data on viable trade and investment prospects.
Matczuk, for his part, noted the good relationship between the two countries, highlighting that the visiting delegation in Doha includes a range of chiefs of firms operating in the fields of energy, information technology, transportation, and logistics. He expressed hope that their firms would forge alliances with their Qatari counterparts.
In a related context, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani underscored the Qatari businessman's desire to tap into the Polish market, along with the investment opportunities available, affirming that Poland abounds with attractive investment climates.
HE Ambassador of Poland to Qatar described the Qatar-Poland relationship as exceptional in multiple fields, particularly in the commercial and economic areas. (QNA)
