Doha, May 19 (QNA) - Based on State of Qatar and the Republic of Tunisia's strong fraternal relations and in light of the shared commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad of the Republic of Tunisia Mohamed Ali Nafti, in Doha on May 19.

At the onset of the meeting, HE Mohamed Ali Nafti conveyed the greetings of HE President of the Republic of Tunisia Kais Saied to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with his best wishes for the continued prosperity and advancement of the State of Qatar, its leadership, government, and people.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir to HE the President of the Republic of Tunisia, wishing him good health and happiness, and wishing continued progress and prosperity to the government and people of Tunisia.

HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad praised the State of Qatar's care for and attention to the Tunisian community residing in Qatar, as well as its support for the Tunisian School in Doha, given its key role in strengthening educational relations, hoping to advance ties as to include university-level cooperation.

The meeting discussed the two sisterly countries' distinguished relations and ways to strengthen and develop them in various political, economic, investment, development, and cultural fields, reflecting the aspirations of both countries' leaderships and serving the interests of their peoples.

The two sides stressed the importance of starting negotiations between the trade ministers of both countries within the framework of the economic partnership and free trade agreement to be signed, with the participation of the Qatari-Tunisian business council, in order to explore new opportunities for cooperation and partnership.

They also welcomed the proposed projects and programs in areas such as health, food security, housing, education, higher education, and media.

Both sides exchanged views on key issues of mutual concern on the regional and international arenas, foremost of which was the just Palestinian cause. The two sides affirmed their full support and solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in regaining all of their legitimate historical rights. They expressed their strong rejection and condemnation of the Israeli occupation's plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands and the crimes of genocide it is committing against the Palestinian people in a desperate attempt to liquidate their just cause.

The Tunisian side highly appreciated the State of Qatar's efforts, under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to end the aggression and support regional and international efforts in this regard.

The two sides also affirmed that their stances align on many of these issues, particularly with regard to enhancing joint Arab action and supporting efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.

At the end of the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to continue coordination and consultation between them, strengthening bilateral cooperation and pushing it to broader horizons, in an embodiment of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Tunisia's shared vision. (QNA)
