Doha, May 13 (QNA) - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) concluded its participation in the Middle East and North Africa Insurtech and Fintech Summit 2025, held at Qatar National Convention Center.

The summit witnessed extensive participation from industry leaders, investors, and regional and international experts, providing MCIT with a valuable platform to enhance its presence in emerging digital technology platforms and showcase its efforts in advancing digital transformation and technology entrepreneurship in Qatar.

Organized by Qatar Insurance Group in partnership with MCIT as the main strategic partner, along with Commercial Bank and Ooredoo Fintech as strategic partners for the fintech segment, the event revolved around the central theme, "The Impact of AI on the Insurance Value Chain" The summit highlighted the region's rapid advancements in digital insurance and innovative financial services while positioning Qatar as a regional hub for future-focused technologies.

The joint event served as a strategic step toward positioning Qatar as a regional center for digital transformation by supporting the fintech and insurtech

ecosystems, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030's goal of building a knowledge-based economy. The summit attracted over 1,500 participants, including decision-makers, experts, entrepreneurs, international speakers, startup founders, regulatory representatives, investors, and executives from the insurance and technology sectors.

During the summit, MCIT's booth attracted significant interest, serving as a dynamic platform to present initiatives driving Qatar's digital transformation and technology entrepreneurship landscape. The Ministry emphasized its ongoing efforts to support digital innovators and enable startups to transform their ideas into scalable, competitive projects, as part of its commitment to advancing the Digital Agenda 2030 - a roadmap for a prosperous digital economy, a more inclusive society, and smart government services that align with Qatar's aspirations to lead in the digital future.

The booth featured presentations on key programs, including the Digital Incubation Center (DIC), which provides comprehensive support for startups from early-stage development to growth through mentorship, training, and essential operational resources. Also showcased was "Tasmu Accelerator," a vital component of the Smart Qatar program, which assists startups in developing tech solutions tailored to address strategic sector challenges in areas like transportation, tourism, and environment, facilitating direct collaboration with public and private sector entities.

Additionally, MCIT highlighted the benefits of Scale Now program, which fosters the growth and expansion of Qatari digital projects locally and internationally by offering funding of up to QR 200,000 and facilitating access to regional and international markets through strategic partnerships and specialized guidance.

Furthermore, the SMEs Go Digital program drew significant attention for its practical framework designed to accelerate digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promoting the adoption of e-commerce, cloud services, and data analytics to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Commenting on the Ministry's participation, Faraj Jassim Abdullah, Director of Digital Economy Department at MCIT, said: "The summit has provided an important platform for engaging with key stakeholders in the fintech and insurtech sectors, allowing us to exchange insights on the future of these vital industries amid rapid digital transformation."

He further added "Qatar has made substantial progress in establishing a conducive environment for the growth of digital startups, supported by advanced infrastructure, supportive policies, and targeted initiatives that nurture talent and bring innovative solutions to market. Through our participation in this summit, we reiterate our commitment to positioning Qatar as a regional hub for technology entrepreneurship, supporting digital entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to scale locally and expand confidently into regional and international markets."

The summit also hosted a dedicated exhibition space for 10 startup companies incubated within MCIT's programs, providing them with a valuable opportunity to showcase their innovative projects to a diverse audience of investors, experts, and participants. The featured projects spanned various fields, including digital insurance solutions, AI-driven financial services, and emerging technologies, opening doors for potential partnerships and market expansion.

MCIT's participation in the summit aligns with its ongoing efforts to emphasize Qatar's position as a regional technology and innovation hub and to reinforce its role as a key enabler of digital transformation in the region. Through strategic initiatives like these, the Ministry continues to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs and innovators, fostering an environment conducive to developing future-ready solutions that drive both economic and societal progress.
