Qatar Beach Volleyball Team /1/ Defeat Omani /3/ in Gulf Games Opening
Muscat, April 7 (QNA) - The Qatari beach volleyball team defeated its Omani counterpart 2-0 in the match that took place Monday at the start of the beach volleyball competitions of the 3rd Gulf Beach Games, currently being held in the Omani capital, Muscat.
The competition will continue until next Friday, with the participation of more than 300 athletes representing the six GCC countries.
The Qatari team, consisting of Cherif Younness and Ahmed Tijan, won two sets to none, scoring 21-8 and 21-5.
The Qatari team is scheduled to meet the Kuwaiti team (2) tomorrow, Tuesday, as the Qatari team seek to achieve their second victory to top Group A and advance to the quarter-finals.
In the same competition, the Qatari team, consisting of Othman Mohammed and Nour Othman, lost their first match against Oman 4-0. They also lost their second match against Bahrain 2-0 in two sets. The Qatari team will meet Saudi Arabia (1) tomorrow, Tuesday, in the final match of the preliminary round. (QNA)
