Mogadishu, April 25 (QNA) - More than 21 Al Shabaab militants, linked to al-Qaeda, have been killed in a Somali army operation in Lower Shabelle, southwest of the country.

Local sources reported that a military operation carried out by the army's "Danab" commando forces resulted in the killing of more than 21 militants from the movement in Lower Shabelle, which is currently witnessing intensive military operations killing several Al Shabaab militants and their field commanders.

The Somali army had previously announced the thwarting of an attack launched by Al Shabaab militants on the Wargati area in Middle Shabelle, south of the country.

Meanwhile, security forces have recaptured several areas in the center and south from the militants in recent months. (QNA)
