Doha, April 22 (QNA) - On its final day at the Old Port, the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center’s pavilion, under the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, welcomed around 300 visitors from various nationalities, bringing the total number of tourists benefiting from its awareness activities and programs to approximately 6,000 during this tourist season.

The pavilion at the Old Port was organized in collaboration with Mwani Qatar, as part of an active partnership aimed at promoting Qatar's cultural message and introducing tourists arriving via cruise ships throughout the season to the country's Islamic and cultural heritage.

The pavilion played a significant role in presenting Islamic culture in its moderate and tolerant framework, providing carefully prepared informational brochures that offered tourists a clear and quick understanding of Islamic values. The materials also informed visitors about the center's diverse services, including guided mosque tours, and how to visit and benefit from the activities at the main center.

Dr. Saleh Ali Al Lakhan, who serves Director of the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, emphasized that the center's participation in the tourist season through its pavilion at the Old Port represents an important step in introducing tourists to Qatari society and its rich heritage.

He further highlighted the center's commitment to conveying Islam’s message of tolerance and reinforcing the values of dialogue and coexistence, through engaging and simplified cultural content tailored to tourists' interests upon their arrival.

He noted that the pavilion was specifically designed to meet the needs of its visitors in terms of language, presentation, and content, which significantly contributed to the high attendance throughout the season. He added that the informational materials were concise, precise, and of high quality, while special attention was given by volunteers and preachers to warmly welcoming visitors.

The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center is considered one of Qatar’s leading institutions for Islamic culture, actively spreading Islamic principles, promoting coexistence and peace, and introducing Islamic culture and Qatari heritage to visitors from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.

The pavilion is scheduled to resume its activities at the Old Port when the next tourist season begins in about six months, continuing its collaboration with Mwani Qatar, which provided essential support and facilities to ensure the success of this initiative. The effort highlights Qatar’s cultural image and demonstrates its openness to people from around the world, fostering mutual respect and cultural interaction.

The center’s active participation aligns closely with its mission to present an authentic image of Islam as a religion that encourages tolerance, mutual understanding, and dialogue.
