Doha, April 18 (QNA) - Umm Salal beat Al Arabi 2-0 in Week 22 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at Al Arabi’s Grand Hamad Stadium on Friday.

The Orange Fortress’ goals came from Abdullah Khaled (eighth minute) and substitute Abdelrahman Raafat (90+3 minute).

Al Arabi’s Abdullah Al Muraisi was shown the red card in the 73rd minute, following a VAR check, after he landed his foot on Umm Salal player Khalaf Saad Khalifa’s head while attempting a reverse kick.

The win took Umm Salal’s tally to 21 points as they remained in 11th Play-Off place in the standings. In Play-Off match, Umm Salal face Second Division runners-up Al Markhiya.

Al Arabi ended the league championship with 23 points in ninth place.

Umm Salal opened the scoring, with Abdullah Khaled pouncing on a long lob from the left by Mashaal Al Shammari to score at the right of the goal.

Al Arabi almost equalized in the 67th minute when Abdou Diallo headed in a corner kick. But the referee ruled out the goal as Umm Salal’s Naim Laidouni was fouled inside the box.

Al Arabi had more woes when Al Muraisi was given the marching orders.

Towards the end, Umm Salal doubled their lead through Abdelrahman Raafat. (QNA)
