Doha, April 13 (QNA) - The 2025 MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar concluded with an exhilarating day of racing action at the Lusail International Circuit (LIC) drawing a total of 50,321 attendees across the three-day event.

Sunday's main Grand Prix delivered world-class motorcycle racing under Lusail's iconic floodlights followed by the circuit's signature sendoff - a show of fireworks.

As night fell over the circuit, spectators were treated to an opening ceremony featuring Qatar Air Sports Committee paratroopers making a breathtaking leap onto the main straight, followed by an impressive freestyle bike stunt show that had the crowd on their feet. The ceremony continued with a performance of the Qatari national anthem, while the Grand Prix trophy was proudly displayed to the enthusiastic crowd.

The highlight of the day was the premier class MotoGP Grand Prix. Over 21 high-intensity laps, Marc Marquez from Ducati Lenovo Team demonstrated exceptional skill to claim victory with a total time of 41:29.186, 1.800 seconds ahead of Maverick Vinales from Red Bull KTM Tech3 who secured second place. Rounding out the podium was Marc's teammate, Francesco Bagnaia with a gap of 4.535 seconds to him.

Under the iconic Lusail floodlights and accompanied by a dazzling fireworks display, Marc Marquez was awarded the trophy for the 2025 MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar, marking his third victory in four races this season, having finished second in one Grand Prix and first in the other three.

The day began with the final race of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup, where Japanese riders continued their dominance from the previous day. Ryota Ogiwara from Idemitsu ATC - Japan secured victory with a time of 26'15.105, followed closely by his teammate Seiryu Ikegami just 0.204 seconds behind. Shingo Iidaka, also from Idemitsu ATC - Japan, completed the podium with a time of 26'29.512.

The Moto3 race provided fans with edge-of-your-seat action as riders battled over 16 laps. Angel Piqueras from FRINSA - MT Helmets - MSI emerged victorious with a total time of 33'17.268. In an incredibly close finish, Taiyo Furusato from Honda Team Asia secured second place just 0.009 seconds behind, while Ryusei Yamanaka from FRINSA - MT Helmets - MSI completed the podium only 0.042 seconds off the lead.

In the intermediate class, the Moto2 race delivered 18 laps of intense competition. Aron Canet from Fantic Motor claimed victory with a total time of 35:30.185. Deniz Oncu from Red Bull KTM Ajo secured second place with a gap of 1.103 seconds, while pole-sitter Manuel Gonzalez from Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP completed the podium 1.286 seconds behind the leader despite starting from the front of the grid.

The paddock was filled with enthusiastic crowds as the Hero Walk provided spectators the opportunity to interact with their favorite MotoGP riders. Fans were able to get up close and personal with the riders, taking photographs, getting autographs and enjoying the interaction. The Fan Zone remained a hive of activity on the final day, with attendees enjoying a range of entertainment including simulator experiences, go-karting sessions, illusion shows, and live music performances.

As the 2025 MotoGP World Championship calendar moves forward, teams and riders will now prepare for the next round, carrying forward the momentum and lessons learned from this exciting opening round in Qatar. (QNA)
