President of Arab Military Sports Federation Re-elected for Second Term

Doha, April 10 (QNA) - The General Assembly of the Arab Military Sports Federation, currently convening in its 39th session in Doha under the patronage of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, has re-elected Brigadier General Dr. Yousef Dossmal Al Kuwari as President of the Federation for a second term extending to 2028.

The meeting was chaired by Brigadier General Dr. Al Kuwari, who is also the President of Qatari Military Sports Federations, with the participation of 19 member states of the Arab Military Sports Federation.

The General Assembly session included elections for the presidency and Executive Committee membership for the 2025-2028 term, in addition to discussing items on the agenda and the plan to organize Arab military championships and events for the same period.

Attending the meeting were Vice President of the Arab Military Sports Federation Major General Staff Mohamed Ezzazy Al Assal, HE Tarek Abdelsalam, Minister Plenipotentiary and Secretary-General of the Federation and Director of the Military Department at the Arab League, HE Head of the Military Sports Division at the Arab League Counselor Mohamed Al Amin Al Dah, representatives of member states of the Federation, and several officers from the Qatari Armed Forces.

Brigadier General Dr. Al Kuwari praised the great success achieved by the General Assembly during today’s session, which took place in an ideal atmosphere and included the discussion of numerous topics related to the development of Arab military sports. He affirmed that the meeting comes as part of Qatar’s distinguished hosting of all events held in Doha.

He added that the Arab Federation has seen significant growth and diversification in its competitions recently, with rising technical standards. The Federation is currently preparing its calendar for the new 2025–2028 cycle, which spans the next four years. He pointed out that the Federation seeks to further develop Arab military sports in collaboration with all member federations.

For his part, Major General Al Assal praised the positive atmosphere during the General Assembly, noting that the elections were conducted in complete confidentiality and that the results were satisfactory to all.

He also mentioned that Egypt will host the 25th Military Equestrian World Championship in May, with 20 countries having confirmed their participation so far.

Additionally, Director of the Sports Affairs Department in the Saudi Armed Forces Brigadier General Ali bin Ibrahim Al Sheikhi commended Qatar’s excellent hosting of the General Assembly meetings and the ideal conditions in which the sessions were held.

Director of Physical Training and Sports in the Syrian Army and Armed Forces Brigadier General Osama Sheikh Hamed also extended his thanks to Qatar for its outstanding organization of the General Assembly. He added that Syria is scheduled to host the Military Modern Pentathlon Championship in May 2026. (QNA)
