Kyiv, December 07 (QNA) - A Ukrainian official announced Sunday that Russian forces launched an airstrike last night targeting infrastructure in the city of Kremenchuk, located in central Ukraine.

Kremenchuk, situated on the Dnieper River, is a major industrial center and home to one of the country's largest oil refineries. It has been repeatedly targeted by Russian attacks in the past, including a 2022 strike on a shopping mall that killed more than 21 people.

Kremenchuk Mayor Vitalii Maletskyi said in a social media post that details of the damage would be released later after the assessment is completed. He noted that service teams are working to restore electricity, water, and heating to the affected areas.

Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine's energy and water infrastructure as winter approaches, attempting to pressure the population and disrupt production. In recent years, the country has experienced widespread power outages during the cold season.

The Ukrainian Air Force also issued a warning overnight via Telegram about the continued threat of drone and missile attacks on the city. (QNA)
