Doha, December 06 (QNA) - The Qatari national football team will face Tunisia on Sunday at Al Bayt Stadium in the third and final round of Group A competition of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 in Doha.
The Qatari team is seeking a victory to remain in contention for qualification to the quarter-finals. This last opportunity is conditional on the result of the simultaneous second match in the same group, which pits Palestine against Syria.
The Qatari team has only one point from its draw against Syria 1-1 in the second round, following an opening 1-0 loss to Palestine. Qatar currently sits in third place, tied with the Tunisian team. Tunisia drew 2-2 with Palestine but lost 1-0 to Syria in the first round. Meanwhile, the Syrian and Palestinian teams share the top spot in the group with four points each.
The Qatari team delivered a strong performance against Syria and was the better side for most of the match, squandering several opportunities before scoring the opening goal. However, they conceded a late goal in the final minute, costing them two crucial points in their competitive path. (QNA)
