Doha, December 4 (QNA) – The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, is participating in the 32nd International Holy Quran Competition for the year 1447 AH (2025 CE), hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt from December 6 to 10.
The competition features wide participation from various countries around the world, reflecting the growing international interest in serving the Holy Quran and supporting its memorizers.
Jassim bin Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance at the Ministry, affirmed in a statement that Qatar's participation in this competition embodies the Ministry's commitment to strengthening Qatar's presence in international Quranic events.
This reflects the country's dedication to the care and service of the Holy Quran and its people, as well as showcasing the exceptional skills of Qatari youth in memorization, recitation, and mastery.
He noted Qatar's distinguished presence in numerous international competitions over the past years, such as the Moscow International Competition, the Algeria Competition, the King Abdulaziz International Competition in Makkah Al Mukkaramah, and competitions in Malaysia, Morocco, Croatia, Kazakhstan, and others.
He also highlighted the 22nd Moscow International Competition, where contestant Abdulaziz Abdullah Ali Al Hamri achieved second place in the category of memorizing the entire Holy Quran, an accomplishment that reflects the country's commitment to those who memorize the Holy Quran.
The competition is being held at the Grand Mosque of Egypt in the New Administrative Capital. This year's edition witnessed unprecedented participation in the preliminary rounds, which were organized online for the first time, with 158 contestants from 72 countries.
The preliminary rounds resulted in the qualification of 115 contestants, representing the elite of Quran memorizers from around the world, who will now compete in the main competition, which is divided into eight main categories, according to precise criteria that consider the quality of memorization, performance, and understanding of interpretation.
This participation reflects the continued efforts of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs to support Qatari memorizers and reciters, enabling them to represent the country in international forums. This strengthens Qatar's presence in Quranic competitions and highlights its leadership in serving the Holy Quran.(QNA)
