Qatar Participates in 18th Plenary Meeting of Global Forum on Transparency, Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes
New Delhi, December 03 (QNA) - The State of Qatar took part in the 18th Plenary Meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, which was convened in New Delhi, India, with the participation of over 170 countries and international organizations.
HE President of the General Tax Authority (GTA), Khalifa bin Jassim Al Jaham Al Kuwari, led the State of Qatar's delegation to the meeting.
During the meeting, the delegation underscored the State of Qatar's commitment to advancing its legislative and regulatory system to enhance tax compliance, especially in areas of Exchange-on-Request (EOIR) and Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information (AEOI), as well as to strengthen digital transformation in tax systems and develop compliance and oversight tools.
In addition, the delegation participated in a series of panel discussions and side events, which broadly addressed the global progress in combating tax evasion and the role of transparency in optimizing tax-collection efficiency and increasing domestic revenues, in addition to reviewing other countries’ experiences in applying international standards and strengthening national capacity.
This participation underlines Qatar's effective role in international forums concerned with tax governance and its keenness to foster tax transparency principles and upgrade information exchange mechanisms, in alignment with international standards.
This is alongside Qatar's unwavering commitment to collaborating with international partners to boost a global tax system that is fairer and more transparent. (QNA)
