Al Noor Center for the Blind Holds Diverse Awareness Events to Mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Doha, December 03 (QNA) - Al Noor Center for the Blind, a member of the Qatar Social Work Foundation, has held a series of awareness and societal events concomitantly with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities through a broad range of programs that shine a spotlight on the rights of individuals with visual impairments.
A symposium on a safe environment and combating violence against blind women was held in collaboration with the National Committee for Human Rights (NCHR), spotlighting the challenges that plague blind women and laser-focusing on more efficient protective mechanisms, thereby promoting a safer and more inclusive environment that supports this segment.
The center also engages in an interactive exhibition that will be held on the margins of the World Arabian Horse Championship in Old Doha Port.
The center's members showcase a collection of handmade crafts and artistic drawings inspired by equestrian identity, in a step that reflects their skills and ability for creative and artistic expression, alongside the launch of an awareness campaign on the rights of persons with visual impairments, with a focus on the latest developments in the new disability law and its fundamental guarantees and principles that promote equal inclusion and full participation in society.
Alongside these events, the center engaged its members in the opening ceremony of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, in coordination with the organizing committee, with several of them escorting the footballers in the Qatar vs. Palestine match, a step that embodies their inclusion in major sporting events and spotlights their standing and capabilities.
These events come as part of the center's unyielding commitment to holding integrated awareness programs that help demonstrate the true potential of individuals with visual impairments, said Executive Director of Al Noor Center for the Blind, Mishal Abdullah Al Nuaimi.
Al Nuaimi added that the participation of the center's members in the World Arabian Horse Championship represents an innovative space that materializes their artistic capabilities, whose handcrafts and drawings are showcased to highlight their capability of standing out and innovating within broader cultural events.
He further clarified that the media campaign held alongside these events is intended to promote awareness of the rights of individuals with visual impairments, in addition to backing the national efforts in having inclusive environments in place and pitching the role of the new law in strengthening protection and empowerment.
Al Nuaimi noted that the center's activities are an extension of its unwavering efforts to empower those members, reinforce their societal engagement, and help build a more inclusive community in recognition of human diversity. (QNA)
