Doha, December 29 (QNA) - The General Assembly of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) elected Hamad Ahmed Al Hammadi as President of the QTTA by acclamation for the new term (2025-2028).

This took place during the General Assembly meeting held on Monday, chaired by Khalil Al Mohannadi, the former President of the QTTA, after a quorum was reached. The meeting was attended by members of the General Assembly, club representatives, and a representative of the Qatar Olympic Committee.

Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi was also elected Secretary General of the QTTA by acclamation. The following members of the QTTA's Board of Directors were also elected by acclamation: Jaber Saeed Afifa, Mohammed Hassan Al Rumaihi, and Abdullah Bader Al Sada.

The agenda of the General Assembly of the QTTA included ratifying the minutes of the previous General Assembly meeting in 2024, reviewing the Board of Directors' report on its activities during the 2024-2025 sports season, discussing future participation plans, and approving the draft budget for the upcoming year, 2026.

During the meeting, Khalil Al Mohannadi was unanimously elected as Honorary President of the QTTA in recognition of his significant contributions to the QTTA over the past 30 years.

In a statement, the new QTTA President emphasized that the coming period will witness a concerted effort to elevate the sport to new technical and administrative levels, keeping pace with the aspirations and future plans of Qatari sports, ensuring that Qatari table tennis remains at the forefront of international competitions.

Looking forward to achieving further accomplishments for Qatari table tennis in this new term, realizing the future goals, and further developing this sport, Al Hammadi stated that he will strive to continuously improve Qatari national teams across all age groups to ensure the sustainability of the achievements. On the administrative level, he said that they aspire to maintain a presence within the International, Asian, and Arab Table Tennis Associations.

For his part, Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi expressed his delight at being elected Secretary General of the QTTA for the new term 2025-2028. He stated that the next phase aims to consolidate the gains achieved by the sport over the past three decades, noting that the General Secretariat will serve as a cornerstone by activating communication channels with clubs and developing local competitions to become the primary source of talent for the national teams.

Concluding, Al Mohannadi said that their goal is to participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and to have a large pool of players capable of competing with Asian teams. (QNA)
