Speaker of Shura Council Meets President of Jordanian Senate

Doha, December 21 (QNA) - HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met on Sunday with HE President of the Senate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Faisal El-Fayez, who is visiting the country.
During the meeting, HE the Shura Council Speaker emphasized the deep ties that the two brotherly countries share, the high level of Qatari-Jordanian relations, and their continuous development across various fields, particularly in the parliamentary sphere.
HE Al Ghanim also affirmed the Shura Council's commitment to strengthening constructive cooperation and joint coordination with the Jordanian Senate, in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and serves their common interests.
For his part, HE President of the Jordanian Senate commended the strong relations that unite the two brotherly countries and the ongoing cooperation between them in various fields.
His Excellency praised Qatar's regional and international role in supporting security and peace and promoting sustainable development through mediation efforts and a policy of dialogue. He reaffirmed his aspiration to expand parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and intensify consultations on issues of common interest.
The meeting addressed several topics of mutual concern, and the two sides exchanged views and perspectives on them.
Both sides affirmed the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation channels, coordinating positions between the two councils in regional and international parliamentary forums, and exchanging expertise and visits.
During the meeting, they also discussed developments in the region, particularly those related to the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. They stressed the moral and humanitarian responsibility of parliaments to take effective stances that contribute to ending the humanitarian tragedy of the Palestinian people and achieving a just peace for them.
In this context, both sides reiterated the importance of concerted regional and international parliamentary efforts to support the Palestinian people in attaining their legitimate rights, foremost among them their right to establish their independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Following the meeting, HE the President of the Jordanian Senate toured the Shura Council building, including the Tamim bin Hamad Hall, during which he was briefed on the work mechanisms followed and the modern technologies adopted in managing the sessions and the work of the council. (QNA)
