Doha, December 18 (QNA) - Hamad Al Subaie, an anti-corruption expert at the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), stated that the Academy's newly launched project for ranking agencies responsible for combating corruption focuses on assessing the performance of anti-corruption bodies worldwide through a scientific methodology based on a specialized questionnaire.

In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of his participation in a session at the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Al Subaie explained that the project allows each participating agency to understand its standing in comparison to the global average performance of anti-corruption agencies. This enables agencies to evaluate their institutional performance and identify whether they rank above or below the global average, helping them determine their strengths and opportunities for improvement.

He noted that 50 anti-corruption agencies from 50 countries participated in the questionnaire, with the agencies themselves providing the required data and information. Al Subaie emphasized that the ranking details of each agency are not published publicly; only the global average is disclosed to maintain data confidentiality and accuracy. He also stressed that the project is not a one-time initiative but a continuous endeavor, with the questionnaire system being applied annually, allowing participating agencies to monitor their performance development over time and measure improvements periodically.

Al Subaie affirmed that the International Anti-Corruption Academy does not limit its role to measurement and evaluation alone but also provides technical and advisory support to participating agencies, offering specialized guidance to enhance performance and strengthen the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures.

The project to assess the performance of anti-corruption agencies is an international initiative aimed at evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of bodies responsible for combating corruption, based on clear professional indicators and standards. The project seeks to empower agencies to benchmark their performance against global averages, improve policies and procedures, and reinforce principles of transparency and integrity through a continuous and sustainable evaluation process.

It is worth noting that the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) is an independent international organization headquartered in Austria, specializing in education, training, research, and capacity-building in anti-corruption, integrity, and good governance. The Academy collaborates with governments, international organizations, and specialized institutions to support global efforts aimed at preventing and combating corruption. (QNA)
