South Africa's Minister of Justice to QNA: Qatar Plays Pivotal Role in Combating Corruption
Doha, December 16 (QNA) - HE Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development of the Republic of South Africa Mmamoloko Kubayi affirmed the State of Qatar's pivotal role in combating corruption both through hosting the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP11) and through its use of technology in fighting crime and corruption. Her Excellency commended the existing level of cooperation and the excellent bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and South Africa for many years.
In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the COSP11, Her Excellency thanked the State of Qatar for the warm welcome and excellent organization, saying that the outstanding organization and high level of hospitality reflect the State of Qatar's deep commitment to promoting integrity and transparency at the international level and its leading role in combating corruption.
Highlighting the COSP11's in-depth discussions and positive outcomes, particularly regarding proposals aimed at reviewing conventions and strengthening the capacity of states to confront corruption globally, she stated that launching new tools to support countries, particularly those experiencing conflicts, to combat corruption within conflict zones is a crucial step.
She noted that addressing illicit financial flows, from an African perspective, aligns with the goals of Agenda 2063 and contributes to supporting development and stability efforts.
Her Excellency expressed her country's gratitude for the support provided by the State of Qatar during South Africa's presidency of the G20, adding that this support contributed to the success of that presidency and that relations between the two countries will remain strong at both the bilateral and international levels.
