Doha Bank Stars League: AL Arabi Edge Al Ahli 1-0, Advance to 7th Spot
Doha, November 09 (QNA) - Al Arabi secured a 1-0 victory over Al Ahli in their rescheduled Week-7 match of the Doha Stars League, played today at Al Thumama Stadium.
Al Arabi owes its victory to Ishaq Al Haji, who scored the only goal of the match in the 8th minute.
This marks Al Arabi's third consecutive win, bringing their points tally to 13 and moving them up to seventh place. Al Ahli remains in ninth place with 9 points.
Al Arabi dominated the early stages of the match, controlling possession and creating numerous chances. Their efforts paid off with the opening goal in the 8th minute when a cross from Spaniard Rodrigo Sanchez was met by Ishaq Al Haji with a well-placed header that found the back of the net to the right of the Al Ahli goalkeeper.
Isaac Al Haji came close to adding a second goal after Pablo Sarabia's pass put him through on goal, but his weak shot went wide of the post in the 31st minute.
Al Ahli tried to dominate possession after falling behind, but they were unable to create any real attacking threat due to Al Arabi's well-organized midfield and defense.
Al Arabi continued to threaten through quick counter-attacks, and Sarabia almost scored a second goal after a cross from Rodrigo, but his powerful shot went over the bar in the 45th minute. The referee then blew the whistle for halftime.
Al Ahli pressed forward at the start of the second half, desperately seeking an equalizer, while Al Arabi relied on counter-attacks. One such counter-attack nearly resulted in a second goal when Rodrigo broke into the penalty area and unleashed a powerful shot that was saved by the Al Ahli goalkeeper in the 61st minute.
Al Ahli responded with a well-coordinated attack, the ball reaching Hilal Mohammed on the left flank. His powerful shot was parried by goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail in the 64th minute.
Al Ahli intensified their efforts in the remaining time, but Al Arabi's goalkeeper, Jassim Al Hail, made two crucial saves in quick succession. First, he denied a shot from Dutchman Michel Vlap, and then he parried a header from Moroccan Idriss Fettouhi, securing the victory for his team at the final whistle. (QNA)
