Gaza, November 06 (QNA) - The Gaza Center for Human Rights called on the international community to pressure Israeli occupation to ensure free and unrestricted access for foreign journalists to Gaza Strip, stressing that the ongoing Israeli restrictions for more than two years constitute a blatant violation of press freedom and an attempt to conceal the truth.
In a statement on Thursday, the center emphasized that since the outbreak of the Israeli military aggression on the Strip, occupation authorities have imposed a complete ban on foreign press access, depriving the international community of firsthand insight into the catastrophic humanitarian situation and the grave violations suffered by civilians in Gaza.
The center noted that the "limited access" granted to a small number of journalists under special conditions, including being accompanied by Israeli occupation army, is meaningless, restricting their ability to report the truth and forcing their coverage to reflect the Israeli narrative rather than allowing independent journalism.
It added that the ongoing ban on foreign journalists aims to obscure the crimes and serious violations committed by the Israeli army against civilians, including attacks on infrastructure, hospitals, shelters, and journalists themselves. The center warned that the ban also seeks to prevent the world from witnessing the large-scale destruction and acts amounting to genocide, as well as the catastrophic humanitarian impact in Gaza, describing the restrictions as a deliberate attempt to conceal the truth and block accurate reporting on the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
