Doha, November 03 (QNA) - The Qatari Society of Al Gannas has announced the events and championships for the 2025-2026 season.

Chairperson of the Championships of the Qatari Society of Al Gannas and the Marmi Festival, Muteb Mubarak Al Qahtani, revealed that the first tournament of this season ought to be the second Katara Falcons and Hunting Championship 2025 on Nov.26, 2025.

This competition features separate rounds for each falcon category in the competitions of Al Dawo, with each category having its own round, in addition to two additional rounds dedicated to local production, followed by an elite round for the Gyr category, totaling 15 rounds, Al Qahtani highlighted.

He further explained that the championship also features the Al Talaa competition, the Promising Falconer 200-meter contest in two rounds, and the Saluki race (male and female), noting that this division was organized based on the number of registered participants.

The second event of the season is the "Little Gannas Mezab", scheduled to take place from Dec.21 to 30, followed immediately by the 17th Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2026), which will commence on Jan.1 2026, Al Qahtani highlighted.

Al Qahtani noted that the 16th International Gannas Saluki Race Championship will be held in April 2026, with the exact dates to be announced in due course.

Registration for all championships and festivals will be conducted well in advance to ensure adequate preparation and planning, he dsaid.

Through these events, the society intends to encourage falconers to maintain this venerable and enduring heritage, while fostering a competitive yet fraternal environment that carries resonance and impact domestically, regionally, and internationally. (QNA)
