Abu Dhabi, November 03 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi has emphasized the need to consider the humanitarian aspect within energy policies and priorities.
آ  The remarks came during His Excellency's participation in the opening panel discussion of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), titled "The Reality of Energy: Ensuring a Secure Future in a Volatile World," with the participation of HE Minister of Energy and Industry of the United Arab Emirates, Suhail Al Mazrouei and HEMinister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Arab Republic of Egypt Karim Badawi.
آ  HE Eng. Al Kaabi reiterated the State of Qatar's firm position regarding the transition to low-carbon energy and the future need for oil and gas.
آ  He also noted that achieving net-zero emissions is difficult, stressing the importance of not politicizing energy and not subjecting it to political considerations.
آ  Speaking about regulations and trade barriers, His Excellency reiterated Qatar's opposition to European laws and regulations that would impose fines of 5 percent of total sales on companies that fail to comply with the proposed corporate sustainability due diligence directive.
"If Europe does not reconsider the possibility of relaxing or eliminating the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, we cannot supply LNG to Europe, that much is certain," he stated.
آ آ آ آ آ آ آ  Concluding, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi emphasized that this issue is not limited to oil and gas, but affects any company operating in the European market. (QNA)
