Russian Satellite Communications Company Announces Plan to Develop New Satellites
Moscow, November 29 (QNA) - The Russian Satellite Communications Company announced plans to develop new satellites, entirely built with components and equipment manufactured in Russia, during the Digital Diamond forum.
The company’s CEO, Alexey Volin, stated that they have launched a competition to build four fully Russian-made satellites: Express-40, Express-AMU6, Express-AMU51, and Express-AMU52, adding that they hope to announce the competition results by the end of the year. Construction of these satellites is expected to begin in early 2026.
Volin noted that since 2022, Russia has initiated projects to develop satellites entirely from domestically manufactured components and equipment, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign parts. Work is currently underway on the first fully Russian-made satellite, Express-AMU4. The company also plans to manufacture seven fully domestically built satellites by 2030.
This year’s Digital Diamond forum is being held in Yakutsk, Russia, from 27 to 29 November, bringing together leaders from the IT industry, as well as representatives from business and scientific sectors from Russia and several other countries. (QNA)
