Doha, November 24 (QNA) - Portugal's coach Bino Macaes said that his team delivered one of their best performances in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, playing against Brazil on Monday, adding that although regular time ended in a goalless draw, the Portuguese players prevailed 6–5 on penalties, booking their place in the final for the first time-ever.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Portuguese coach said that the team was well aware of the very difficult task ahead of it, fighting from the start to go far in this tournament, adding that the journey has been full of challenges, whether in the group stage or the subsequent matches.

Macaes, who hopes to become the first Portuguese coach to lead his country to the title, said that his team faced a tough opponent today and that they tried to play with great realism, attempting to capitalize on chances, although Brazil posed a significant threat to the team, yet Portugal managed to qualify through the penalty shootout in the end.

The Portuguese coach expressed his happiness and pride with his team's victory, congratulating everyone for this remarkable achievement, saying that his team has anticipated this moment since arriving in Qatar.

He pointed out that the title is now one step away and that everything will be decided in the final on Thursday, adding that he will work on preparing the team in the best way possible to win the cup. (QNA)
