Qatari Basketball Teams to Participate in Arab, Gulf 3x3 Championships in Muscat
Doha, November 24 (QNA) – The Qatar Basketball Federation has officially announced its participation with its youth, junior, men's, and women's national teams in the upcoming Arab and Gulf 3x3 basketball tournaments, hosted by the Omani capital, Muscat, starting on Tuesday and continuing until November 29.
The tournaments are organized by the Oman Basketball Association in cooperation with the Arab Basketball Federation.
This extensive participation underscores the Qatari Federation's commitment to strengthening the position of Qatari basketball in regional and Arab arenas, and to providing opportunities for various age groups to gain experience and refine their technical skills.
This aligns with the Federation's strategy to enhance the readiness of its national teams in preparation for upcoming Gulf and Asian competitions.
The Arab 3x3 Youth and Junior Championships kick off on Tuesday, with Arab national teams arriving in Muscat. The Al Mouj Muscat facilities will host all matches, showcasing the high level of organization that underscores Oman's status as a premier sporting destination.
The Qatari youth team will compete in a single round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals.
Qatar team will begin their campaign with a tough match against Lebanon, followed by a highly competitive encounter against Oman's (B) team.
The Qatari junior team enter the tournament with high hopes of making a strong showing. They will start with a match against Oman's (B) team, followed by a more challenging game against Oman's (A) team, as they strive to secure a place in the final stages.
The group stage matches will continue until Tuesday evening, before the Arab Championships conclude on Wednesday with the crowning of the winners in both categories.
Following the conclusion of the Arab Championship, Qatar's participation in Muscat continues with the men's and women's national teams competing in the Gulf 3x3 Championship, held from November 28-29 at the Al Mouj Muscat courts. The tournament, one of the most important short-course basketball competitions, is expected to draw teams from across the Gulf region.
The Qatar Basketball Federation emphasized that participation in the Arab and Gulf 3x3 championships provides a valuable opportunity for international exposure and raises the technical level of its players, particularly those in younger age groups who require intensive experience in preparation for upcoming continental competitions.
