Amman, November 20 (QNA) - Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon held a tripartite meeting today to discuss projects in the electricity and gas sectors, with the participation of the energy ministers of the three countries.
Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Kharabsheh, Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water, Joe Al Sadi, and Syrian Minister of Energy, Mohammed Al Bashir, along with technical and engineering delegations, discussed the technical status of the electricity interconnection and gas transmission infrastructure on both the Syrian and Lebanese sides during their meeting in Amman. They emphasized Jordan's readiness to supply both Lebanon and Syria with a portion of their energy needs.
The meeting also discussed strengthening Arab and regional cooperation in the energy sector by reactivating electricity interconnection projects, resuming gas flow through the Arab Gas Pipeline, and enhancing joint efforts to improve the efficiency of the energy system and the reliability of supply among the three countries. The participants agreed to form joint technical teams to assess and modernize the pipelines in a way that takes into account the interests of all parties and to develop a matrix of the required procedures.
