Canberra, November 18 (QNA) - Qatar's beach volleyball duo Cherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan advanced to the last 16 of the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide after a straight-sets victory over Brazil, winning 23-21 and 22-20.
The Qataris, unbeaten so far, topped their group with three wins over Cuba, Switzerland and Austria, all in straight sets.
Their triumph against Brazil marked their fourth consecutive victory in the tournament.
Known for their sharp attacking play and solid blocking, Younes and Tijan will face France's Rotar and Gaauthier on Thursday for a spot in the quarter-finals.
Qatar enter the knockout stages in strong form, building on a period of consistent international success that includes Olympic bronze at Tokyo 2020 and a fourth-place finish at Paris 2024, along with eight gold medals on the global circuit this season. (QNA)
