Cairo, November 13 (QNA) – The General Secretariat of the Arab League, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) have released the first Arab report on the state of the climate in the Arab region for 2024.

In a statement Thursday, the Arab League said that this report represents a significant step towards enhancing collective understanding of climate patterns, their associated risks, and their socio-economic impacts.

In this context, HE Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al Malki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the Arab League said that the report provides a reliable scientific assessment based on up-to-date data and regional insights, forming an essential foundation for policy formulation and sound decision-making.

He noted that the report is a successful example of concerted efforts and cooperation, thanks to the contributions of national meteorological centers, United Nations agencies, and regional institutions.

It opens the door for stakeholders to utilize the report's findings as a starting point for collective action to build a more sustainable and climate-secure future for the Arab region. (QNA)
