Doha, November 12 (QNA) - The International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) has awarded India the hosting rights for the 2026 Snooker World Cup, coinciding with the centenary of the Indian Billiards and Snooker Federation.
The decision highlights the sport's global cooperation and historical ties between national federations.
The announcement came during the IBSF General Assembly held in Doha on the sidelines of the ongoing Snooker World Championship, hosted by the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation, with delegates from 31 countries attending.
The meeting also ratified the appointment of Poland's Viktoria Jadroszyk as Events Director, emphasizing diversity and professionalism within the federation's leadership. Members approved the 2024 minutes, reviewed progress, and discussed strategic plans for future development in technical and administrative areas.
IBSF President Mubarak Al Khayarin praised Qatar's exceptional organization of both the championship and the General Assembly, stressing Doha's role as a hub for international sporting events and a permanent platform for shaping the future of snooker and billiards.
Qatar Billiard Sports Federation President Mohammed Al Ramzani expressed pride in Qatar's organizational success and reiterated the country's commitment to hosting more international events, in line with its vision of becoming a global sports capital. (QNA)
