Doha, November 10 (QNA) - HE Minister of Municipality, Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah revealed on Monday the winning design for the State of Qatar's pavilion at Expo 2027 Yokohama, Japan. This announcement came at the conclusion of the Msheireb Design Competition 2025, which focused on designing Qatar's pavilion for the Expo.
The competition was organized through a tripartite partnership between the Ministry of Municipality, Qatar University, and Msheireb Properties, with the participation of students from the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the College of Engineering, Qatar University. The aim was to empower young talent and showcase Qatari architectural identity on the international stage.
The winning design was selected from among several shortlisted entries, which were academically supervised by Qatar University and artistically supervised by Msheireb Properties. It will officially represent the State of Qatar at Expo 2027 Yokohama, under the theme "A Vision for the Future of Happiness."
The winning design is based on Msheireb's architectural language, which embraces the latest sustainability standards and advanced urban planning solutions while preserving Qatari authenticity and identity. This approach reflects Qatar's pride in its cultural and environmental heritage through a modern interpretation that embodies Qatari architecture inspired by the country's architectural history, relying on innovative solutions and technologies that align with Qatar's stature and future aspirations.
