Doha, October 09 (QNA) - HE National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Chairperson Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah held talks Thursday with HE Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network Sheikh Nasser bin Faisal bin Khalifa Al-Thani, focused on human rights promotion.

The discussions took place on the sidelines of an international conference on the protection of journalists in armed conflicts, which is co-organized by the NHRC and the Al Jazeera Public Liberties and Human Rights Center.

The agenda included cooperation between the NHRC and Al Jazeera Network on human rights, with particular emphasis on press freedom, journalist safety in conflict zones, and the media's role in promoting human rights.

The two sides also explored joint initiatives including workshops and training programs to build media capacity in human rights coverage.

In a related context, HE Al Attiyah met with HE Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Tajikistan, Umed Bobozoda. They discussed human rights cooperation, particularly in the areas of press freedom and journalist safety. (QNA)
