Beirut, October 02 (QNA) – The Qatari national athletics team made a strong start to the 3rd West Asian Athletics Championships for Youth and Women, securing a total of six medals—four gold and two silver—on the opening day of the event in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The championship, which runs through October 5, features participation from 12 countries across the region.

Qatar’s gold medalists include Mubarak Saeed (3,000m), Abdulrahman Mohammed  (400m hurdles), Dana Salem (100m junior women) and Maryam Al Salik (3,000m (junior women)

Silver medals were claimed by Abdulrazzaq Idris (400m hurdles) and Saleh Mahmoud (Shot put)

These results placed Qatar at the top of the overall standings for both youth and women’s categories.

Qatar’s delegation to the championship includes a diverse lineup of athletes competing across various track and field events.

The Qatari team aims to build on this strong start as the competition continues in Beirut. (QNA)
