14 Civilians Killed in Gaza Despite Ceasefire Agreement
Gaza, October 15 (QNA) - At least 14 Palestinian civilians have been confirmed dead in Gaza since the early hours of Wednesday, according to local medical sources, despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Of those killed, eight were recovered from under rubble following Israeli airstrikes, the sources said.
Three bodies were taken to Al-Shifa Medical Complex, 10 to the Ahli Arab Hospital, and one to Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza.
The Gaza Ministry of Health announced earlier today that the total death toll from the Israeli military offensive, which began on Oct. 7, 2023, has now reached 67,938, with 170,169 reported injuries.
The latest casualties come just days after a ceasefire brokered in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, came into effect last Friday. The agreement, reportedly endorsed by the Israeli government, included provisions for a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas of the Gaza Strip and the return of displaced residents to the northern part of the territory.
The truce is part of the first stage of a broader peace framework proposed by US President Donald Trump, aimed at ending the nearly two-year war in Gaza.
Despite the ceasefire, sporadic violence and airstrikes have raised concerns over the agreement's durability and the humanitarian situation in the enclave, where medical infrastructure remains under immense strain. (QNA)
