Zurich, October 14 (QNA) - FIFA announced on Tuesday the selection of 54 referees to oversee the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, held from December 1 to 18.
14 main referees were chosen, 28 assistant referees, and 12 video assistant referees (VAR) from 23 national federations, according to FIFA's official statement posted on its website.
The list includes four Qataris: Abdulrahman Al Jassim (main), Saud Al Maqaleh and Taleb Al Marri (assistants), and Khamis Al Marri (VAR).
The chosen four will be studied by a group of technical specialists before the official kick-off of the tournament.
The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 represents a key step for the referees to be selected and be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Qatar will be hosting the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 matches in December in six stadiums that were used during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Nine teams have already qualified, and 14 others will battle for the 7 remaining spots on November 25 and 26 in Doha. (QNA)
