Doha, June 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University, has launched the assessment phase of the National Survey on Developmental Disabilities Diagnostics and Interventions in the State of Qatar.
This was during an event attended by representatives from major healthcare institutions, hospitals, and centers involved in providing diagnostic and intervention services for individuals with developmental disabilities across the country.
The project aims to provide a comprehensive and accurate assessment of the current status of diagnostic and intervention services for developmental disabilities, and to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, thereby enhancing the quality of services provided and improving their accessibility.
The national survey is scheduled to be conducted over a one-year period and will cover approximately 70 healthcare facilities across the State of Qatar, including hospitals, health centers, clinics, and specialized treatment centers.
During the event, Advisor of the minister of public health and national lead for autism action plan, Dr. Salma Khalaf Al Kaabi delivered a speech highlighting the importance of this national project in supporting the State of Qatar's efforts to develop and strengthen developmental disability services in line with international best practices.
She also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration and coordination among all relevant stakeholders and called on healthcare providers and related institutions to actively participate in the survey to ensure the collection of accurate and comprehensive data that reflects the current status of services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities.
The outcomes of the project will support evidence-informed decision-making and help identify gaps and challenges within existing services, enabling the development and implementation of effective national strategies for diagnostic and intervention services for individuals with developmental disabilities, while enhancing their quality of life and promoting their inclusion in society, Dr. Al Kaabi explained.
It is worth noting that the survey covers developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Developmental Disorders, Speech and Language Disorders, Learning Disorders, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Stereotypic Movement Disorder.
