Doha, June 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Sports and Youth announced the launch of the third edition of the 'Distinguished Youth Researcher Award'.
Organized under the supervision of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies at the Ministry of Endowments, in coordination with relevant departments in both ministries, the award comes within the framework of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two ministries and supporting efforts to empower Qatari youth in the field of scientific research.
HE Director of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani affirmed that the award is a high-quality initiative aimed at young researchers, seeking to encourage them to study the most pressing societal challenges and propose practical solutions that contribute to the advancement of society.
He commended the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Endowments and the Ministry of Sports and Youth, emphasizing that the third edition of the award represents a new step in encouraging young researchers, both Qatari citizens and residents of Qatar, to delve deeper into the study of the impact of role models on shaping behaviors and values, to monitor the various environments of influence in the lives of young people, and to analyze the mechanisms of role model formation in contemporary society, particularly in the digital and new media spaces.
For its part, the Ministry of Sports and Youth praised the Ministry of Endowments' efforts in supporting young researchers and providing them with a robust academic platform, affirming that entrusting the study of youth issues to young researchers themselves lends greater credibility to the scientific findings and makes the proposed solutions more relevant to reality and its needs.
Director of the Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Jawaher Al Sulaiti stated that the Outstanding Youth Researcher Award is a high-quality initiative that embodies the objectives of Qatar's National Youth Policy, particularly regarding encouraging scientific research and innovation, enhancing youth participation in studying priority national issues, and contributing to knowledge production and the development of evidence-based solutions.
She added that the Ministry of Sports and Youth is committed to providing a supportive environment for young people, enabling them to utilize their research and intellectual capabilities to address the challenges that affect their lives and aspirations. She emphasized that involving youth in studying and analyzing their issues contributes to achieving more realistic results and more applicable recommendations, and strengthens their role as active partners in national development.
The selection of the theme for the third edition of the award, she noted, aligns with the growing interest in studying the factors that influence the formation of youth values and behaviors, especially in light of the rapid transformations witnessed in the digital sphere and social media, and the challenges and opportunities they present. These transformations necessitate a deep scientific understanding that contributes to supporting decision-makers and developers of youth programs and policies.
The ministry affirmed that it views this award as a national platform for discovering young researchers, developing their research skills, and encouraging them to produce rigorous scientific studies that contribute to the development of initiatives and services aimed at youth. This supports the achievement of the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar's National Youth Policy, and fosters the building of a conscious, creative generation capable of contributing to the advancement and progress of society. The award, in its third edition, is distinguished by its integrated scientific themes, covering various dimensions related to the concept of role models in the lives of Qatari youth. Five main themes will be addressed. The total prize money for the winners in the third cycle exceeds QR200,000, distributed among the top three winners. The first-place winner receives QR100,000, the second QR75,000, and the third QR50,000.
The prizes offered in this cycle reflect the Ministry of Sports and Youth's commitment to motivating young people towards research excellence and intellectual creativity, and to establishing a culture of scientific research as a driver of sustainable development and national capacity building.
It was also decided that Monday, 1 Safar 1449 AH, corresponding to July 5, 2027, would be the last day to receive the research papers. The result will be announced no later than December 31, 2027. (QNA)
