Doha, February 24 (QNA) – The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, launched an initiative promoting food safety in the community and among school students.

The initiative aims to enhance students' understanding of food safety concepts through a comprehensive awareness plan that features a range of activities designed to suit different age groups and educational levels.

The plan includes field awareness activities, such as organizing educational inspection visits for students to food factories.

These visits aim to reinforce food safety principles, the role of health inspections in monitoring food establishments, methods for preventing food contamination, and mechanisms for implementing food safety requirements within a realistic industrial environment.

This highlights the importance of adhering to healthy practices in protecting consumer and public health.

Four awareness workshops were conducted in primary schools, including simplified lectures on the fundamentals of food safety, with a focus on interactive activities for children.

Students were also involved in inspecting school canteens, contributing to their awareness of best practices for preventing foodborne illnesses and instilling healthy behaviors from a young age.

This also strengthens their role in maintaining food safety both at school and at home.

The Food Safety Department organized educational visits to the Ministry of Public Health's food safety laboratories.

These visits allowed students to learn about food testing procedures, understand major food hazards, and appreciate the importance of laboratory analysis in the early detection of contaminants and ensuring food safety.

The Ministry of Public Health stated that this initiative is part of its strategy to raise health awareness among students and cultivate a generation that is aware of its responsibilities regarding food safety.

This is achieved by bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, under the direct supervision of specialists in health control and food safety. (QNA)
