New Delhi, January 11 (QNA) - A record number of visitors are pouring into the State of Qatar's booth at the New Delhi World Book Fair, as the nation is participating as a guest of honor, underscoring the increasing interest in its culture as well as the thoughtful and literary showcases.
The Ministry of Culture's booth presents an overall picture of the cultural scene in Qatar through exhibiting the ministry's releases, with many of them translated into Indian languages to familiarize the Indian audience with Qatari cultural production and promote cross-cultural communication between the two nations, Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, told Qatar News Agency (QNA).
He noted that the booth also features a folk crafts display showcasing traditional Qatari handicrafts, alongside an Arabic calligraphy exhibit highlighting the beauty and artistic value of the script.
The presentation, he added, emphasizes Qatari cultural heritage and offers visitors an interactive experience that reflects its authenticity and diversity.
The cultural agenda, alongside Qatar's participation as guest of honor, includes thoughtful and cultural panel discussions, with Qatari publishers participating in the publisher platform, where they meet their Indian counterparts to explore avenues for cooperation in the areas of translation and sharing copyrights, Al Buainain added.
Al Buainain asserted that the participation of Qatari folk troupes in the fair's events helps revive traditional arts and engage the Indian audience, thereby reinforcing Qatar's cultural presence and underscoring the role of culture as a bridge to forge people-to-people connections.
The fair will continue until January 18, featuring broad participation from cultural publishing houses and institutions from various countries, alongside a variety of cultural and thoughtful programs. (QNA)
